Steps To Become an LAUSD Volunteer:
Step 1: Register for a Parent Portal Account if you do not already have one (click here)
- Click “Register for an account.”
- Fill out the required information
- Click “Register” and wait for a confirmation email from the Parent Portal with a web link to activate your account.
- When prompted, follow the guidelines to create a password for your account.
Step 2: Fill out the LAUSD volunteer application (click here)
- Select whether you will serve as a Virtual or On-Campus volunteer
- Select “Beethoven St El (1234201)” as the location you would like to serve
- A Waiver of Liability is required to participate in on-campus volunteering. This is completed electronically during the online application process. Your Volunteer Commitment Form will also be signed electronically during the application process.

Step 3: Email your Tuberculosis clearance verification (Screening form or negative test result) to _______ (click here)
- Your doctor can complete a screening form found HERE Or a test can be completed by your physician or at a local clinic
- Clearance for TB is valid for up to 60 days prior to service for new volunteers and period of up to four (4) years for continuing volunteers.
Step 4: (Tier III volunteers only) Submit fingerprints for clearance More info can be found HERE
- Application Review Process – Your application will be reviewed for accuracy and completion by the school site, who must verify you have met all requirements, including:
- Completed the application which is to be kept on file at the school site.
- Electronically signed the application, waiver and Volunteer Commitment Form
- Passed Megan’s Law clearance through https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov.
- Registered Tuberculosis clearance, which is populated by review of the screening or test results provided by the volunteer.
- Submitted fingerprinting (For Tier III volunteers)
- The Office of Student, Family and Community Engagement provides a final review before approving the application. Once approved, you will receive an email from the Office of Student, Family and Community Engagement with a temporary badge. Your permanent badge will be mailed directly to the school and is to be kept in the volunteer binder in the office.
APPROVED VOLUNTEERS
- All volunteers must sign in and out at the office and wear their identification badge at all times while on campus.
- All volunteers must return their badge to the volunteer binder at the end of their volunteer shift.
- All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation. This is offered in the fall via Zoom and the video link will be made available to volunteers who apply after the orientation takes place.
